Prospect Spotlight: Adam Bryant
There has not been a prospect in Pittsburgh generate the type of buzz that Adam Bryant has in a long time. Not since Daniel Warner was drafted. You could even go further back and look at Cutch. But this kid looks like he’s the real deal. Pittsburgh Scouting Director was heard saying “He is the best prospect we’ve taken in the draft on my watch. One of the better ones we’ve ever had. We couldn’t believe he fell to us at the 7.” We reached out to Gould to see what his report says and it follows:
Overall: This kid has superstar potential. If he puts it together he can be a middle of the field anchor for years to come. I see him as a .330 hitter. He’s one of the best pure hitters I’ve seen in a long time. I see him hitting 10 homers if he can put a little weight on and learn to really turn on pitches. He can recognize a bad pitch. He won’t lead the league in walks but he’s respectable here. This guy is the smartest guy in the room. I see him being a front office guy when he’s done, he’s that smart.
There aren’t more glowing reports than that. Sure he’ll never hit 40 homeruns. He may not hit 40 homeruns in his entire career. But everything else he brings to the table has phenom written all over it. Consider this. He was brought up into spring training just to see how he would fare how he would do against MLB pitching. Not only did he hold his own. He put up a .449/.500/.813 slugging line. That’s tremendous for a guy who has never even seen AA pitching and is only 21 years old. He did that in 56 plate appearances, no less. He struck out only 5 times. That, combined with his speed makes him a bright shining star on the horizon from the right side in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh can struggle MIGHTILY against left handed pitchers, as we learned in 2025, could use him right now if he can continue to hit like that.
Our final note is an except from a sit down with GM/Manager Osborn from another publication:
“Everyday, man. Everyday that kid was in my office, nearly in his diaper still. Showing me his stats for the spring. Every day I would tell him the same thing, ‘Adam, we have a plan for you. We want you here now but we want you to succeeed.’ Then he would go out and go 3-4 or 4-5. And sure enough he’d be BACK in my office the next day absolutely WEARING ME OUT about how he belongs here. Hell, I have bottles of scotch here in my office older than him! But damn you can’t argue with the results. So what did I do? I looked him in the eyes as the man he is, or at least as the man he will be and I told him first injury he’s up. I’ll give him that shot at The Show. If he earns it and puts someone out of a job by god, what am I to say? What am I to do? That kid is a baller.”
The future is bright indeed for the 11 prospect in the SBL.
