Comparing your ticket price to the "rest of the league" is somewhat irrelevant because the data might only make sense for a team in the exact situation you would find yours. If your "small market" team has a million fans showing up, then your ticket price would only relate to another small market with a million fans. There is absolutely NO value in knowing that the YANKEES (to pick on them, the team not the GM, again) are charging twice what you do AND have five million fans attending games. I agree. I am looking to compare my ticket pricing with teams in similar markets. In my case Pittsburgh and Cleveland would be teams I would look at first. I am certainly not looking to compare my pricing with the Dodgers and Mets, although it would be fun to see what they are able to charge. This is information that should be readily available to us. I don't want to put extra work on Anthony, but maybe at the end of each season maybe he could provide us with a list of all the ticket prices so we can make informed decision on raising or lowering our prices. Personally I think the price you charge has very, very little to do with what other teams are charging (regardless of comparative market size) and everything to do with how YOUR team is performing, the goals of the owner, your ticketing trend (+/- last season) and how you handle your accounting page and whether you're profitable. And what your fanbase will bear of course to make things "+"! You can glean most of the info from the financial summary online. To use my JAYS as example: Gate = $23.4mil Season = $24.9 Attendance = 1.87mil * Now, some of the gate likely comes from away games (20% or whatever the setting is) and if you're a playoff team there would be added revenue, etc., so this is not strict science $/Att = $25.8 in my case, which is pretty close to my (happy to share) ticket price of $25.00? Following this simple math... Cinci $34.00 Pitts $35.30 Clev $20.00 *** give or take of courseYou can make the call on whether your price is high, low or just right (if these numbers are even close). A playoff team complicates the comparisons of course, because of the added revenue in the playoffs (and attendance) and, from what I've read the ticket price is automatically elevated in the post-season as a reward, by the game. Oh, and the Yankees, as another example: $40.80 - based on 31.8sea +55.2gate / 2.13att Am I close on the Cinci number? And do you think it's the right number for your situation?

Playoff revenue is a separate category. So that wouldnt go into your calculation.

I have my ticket prices set at $29.25.
I think considering my record and fan interest that price is too high.

You also thought the team was ready to compete, so you set your ticket price based on that. If we have the option to lower ticket prices then you could have recovered some revenue later in the season. Thats why i thought this was a good thing to add.

So here is what I am wondering.
With a small record improvement is it realistic to expect a 20% increase in attendance if I decrease ticket prices by 10%?

So here is what I am wondering. With a small record improvement is it realistic to expect a 20% increase in attendance if I decrease ticket prices by 10%? Not sure that can be calculated in that way. I would tend to agree that your ticket price is too high currently, based on having the lowest attendance in SBL. It has reset now, but it would be good to have known whether your tickets sold was trending up (or more likely) down? Certainly your fans play a role, in as much as how happy they are. And improving your record is ALWAYS the goal! There is a little trial and error involved, only because there are so many variables built into the game to determine all this (which is FANTASTIC)! So make a change, based on what you experienced last season. Make improvements where you can. Live within your means. And then evaluate things at the end of this coming season. Rarely does one go worst to first in anything, let alone revenue and attendance. In fact first may be completely out of reach for MANY teams, but tweak and review!!!

We cannot, to my knowledge, be fired in the online game. Might find out, but I don't think so. Not Cinci in any way, but in general terms, if you think you're a world series or even post-season team, then find yourself in the basement...then you should be penalized for that. Or the reverse is also true and you should be rewarded for success, which will be done prior to the next season, with more season ticket sales in-game. The game bases all of that on how it's written currently, with the locking of ticket prices being one of the scorecards internally (in my opinion, I'm not a game developer). I just don't think there should be an external "letting one off the hook" or "bonusing later for miscalculating in the first place" when it's not part of the game. And, you did not specify downward motion in the rule amendment - my mistake for assuming ticket increases only. Sorry. Personally I suspect they are less likely to move down and much more likely to be asked to move up under your rule, but either way I would still rather stay within the game and let it lock in December. Up to the GM to do his (or her) job in evaluating, planning and then executing!!! But that's just me...

Id love to hear some others opinions on this. I wasnt expecting much of a backlash when it came to adjusting ticket prices in a season.
